These depths circulate the whole world. A mountain Range only appears as big as you can perceive its glory. These are just random thought I’m having while getting lost in “With Skates.” On soundcloud there are tons of wonderful bands just waiting to be plucked from the bedroom, and spaces where they create. I stumbled onto Mountain Range, and the wonderful track produced by Stuart Thomas. The sound is absolute bliss, and its really hard not to talk with such lofty dispositions while listening to it. This is the kind of music that makes life flash before your eyes, or the kind that extends something small and wonderful. If you have some time, give them a longer listen. They have some really great music on soundcloud. I know I’m hooked, and will continue to celebrate their magic.

If you’re lucky enough like I was, you’ll find little gems through the bushels of wire and tricks in the vast world of musical production. I stumbled across Tea Leigh out of Boston, and right away I was struck with how wonderful this sound felt. It came at a perfect time, looking for something subtle to get me away from it all. The night comes and fire burns with this wonderful music.

Out of Illinois, Swimteam appears to have a little something for everyone. Listening to their music via Myspace, I was struck by their ability to come off in many respects like multiple bands. They mold fun deep electronic beats that are simply dope, with a serious hazy voice, and at times a dark sensibility, which comes through on the guitar.

The Agency makes me happy! The video I selected does a good job expressing the reason why. Out of Paris France, The Agency is not your average indie rock band, but they do fit nicely in the pocket with any other critically acclaimed indie rockers. A high energy sound mixed with all the perfect gadgetry, which hits just when you think you’ve had enough. An escapade filled with lushes pop, and the moves and shakes to get you dancing. The Agency makes me smile, and I think they will do the same for you.

To put it simply Nuno Lupi is just a brilliant composer. His music is both breathtaking and skillful, blending the craft of sound with imagery seemlessly placed to expel the richness of performance. This weekly series is attempting to cross over the wide spectrum of musical brilliance our world has to offer. With this week’s choice I see that goal being fulfilled. We are excited to share and attempt to bring new listeners to Nuno Lupi from Lisboa, Portugal. His latest album Inner is available on Itunes and through Amazon.

Sleeper of the Week: Language of Kings

Watching the video below was a wonderful way to start my morning. I have seen Andrew Bird Live a few times, and quite honestly I can’t think of a more impressive performer. Similar to Bird, Language of Kings serves up the same quality. Using a loop pedal looks like a bundle of fun, and Language nails it. Setting aside the way in which the sounds are being recorded, the music is good, its exceptionally good. As the minutes role I continue to hear Jon Brion, who does wonderful Motion Picture Score work. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind kept popping in my head, especially on the tune “Uprooting the Flora.” The images that swoon through the quirks behind my eyes are whimsical and sublime. I really dig Language of Kings AKA Mustafa Shaheen.

I like to experiment with the texture of tones and timbres and my heart has a deep romance with folk. I started playing drums in 2003 and since then, I’ve been learning as many instruments as I can. Through the magic art of capturing sound known as recording, I’ve been able to layer instrument upon instrument to create what you hear now. It’s a challenging process to be inventive but it’s also loads of fun. All I ask for is to please put on your headphones.”
