After nearly 30 years, Depeche Mode continues as strong as ever with the April 21st release of their new album and 12th studio release, “Sounds of the Universe.” Although the height of the groups chart topping career was almost 20 years ago with “Violator,” the group is playing for a larger audience now then ever. Their last release “Playing the Angel” was in 2005 and for the most part, satisfied fans…new and old. My personal favorite track on the album, “Precious,” is not to be missed for die-hard DM fans. Although the primary songwriter of the group is Martin Gore, some of lead vocalist Dave Gahan’s writing got on to the last album; and if he can match the output of his last solo album, “Hourglass,” he (and the album) is sure to not disappoint.
