Marcel Dettmann, Techno Music Live Streaming DJ Set

Marcel Dettmann, a techno music premier dj and producer, took some time off his busy schedule, which includes a residency at club Berghain in Berlin, to perform a live dj set for the team at Beatport. The set was recorded live and streamed to their Ustream channel. Beatport described Dettmann “kicked off his set with nearly 45 minutes of dark ambient and experimental music. Diving into grainy dub techno, Berlin machine minimalism and pure Detroit deepness” Marcel concurred “The first hour of the mix was more of a background-music track selection, like I’m listening to when I’m working. The second part of the set was more of the stuff I usually play in the club.”

Panda Bear (a.k.a. Noah Lennox) from Animal Collective has his new solo release out tomorrow in the form of a 7″ single limited edition vinyl. The 7″, a precursor to the full length album Tomboy, includes the title track ‘Tomboy’ and the B-side includes ‘Slow Motion.’ You can hear the tracks before you order at the Hype Machine. ‘Tomboy’ here, and ‘Slow Motion’ here.

Plastikman Live, Movement 2010

The new live electronic performance from Richie Hawtin, Plastikman Live, will be appearing at this years Movement 2010 (Detroit Electronic Music Fest, aka DEMF). The performance in Detroit will be one of a handful of dates that will form the first Plastikman Live world tour. The tour, which plans to take Hawtin’s already technologically advanced performances to the next level with the combination of visual art and interaction, debuts at the Timewarp festival on March 27th, 2010. Hawtin plans to put his experience with experimentation to use by taking what he has learned from past audio-visual-interactive shows (Plastikman @ Mutek ’04, Timewarp ’05-07, Contakt ’08) and combining them into a condensed one hour performance. The tour sets will be a reinterpretation of all Plastikman material from Sheetone to Closer in an attempt to recapture the essence of the infamous early Plastikman parties in Detroit. An excellent addition to the 10 year anniversary of Movement, Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival.
