What a find! Skymning (dusk) is simply one of those creative explorers whose music resonates b/c it sounds like somewhere you’ve been before. I found him surfing around souncloud when I was putting together an 8 track mix for Matinee As Hell. I’m thrilled that I did, and I will be following his moves in the future. There’s a cinematic nature to his music, which I find in a lot of sounds today. I was watching the movie Beginners last night with Holly, and there was a line during one of the beautiful montages. Basically the point was the younger generation(I guess I fall into this category) is able to express itself much more so than our parents generations. They had to hide from a lot of things, because they were required by society to live a certain way, to do certain things. Today we can express ourselves through the multitude of connections, and share the things we create rapidly with a click of just a few buttons. Skymning brings up a lot of things for me, especially his track “I’m Fallin” below. Of course it’s a bit on the sad side, but thats just the way I present it to myself. It also brings forth some pretty amazing visuals, all wrapped with some sort of love collage that my life has photoshopped in my mind. Well, something like that. Get his albums on Bandcamp or check out all his DOPE music on soundcloud. Either way, you’ll be happy you did.

Everyday there’s something new for us all to find. If only we had more time, could we cover all these wonderful Artists. When we do have the few free moments to express our love for someone else’s work, we find things like Seattle based electronic master Heart Island. I came to  know about him through a mutual friend, in regard to a remix album I was putting together for my song Vines.

Since then, the remix album has dropped and Heart Island is starting to build up one heck of collection of remixes, and originals. If you cover bands there’s nothing better than being in front of the inevitable “blowing up” period. While were not the first blog to cover him, its still early, and believe me, this cats on his way to something special. If you’re into that midnight sound, the one that brings the color through the less bright period of the day, Heart Island brings that in spades. Heart Island is a must for those sunsets and headsets, while you walk in the park.

Paxahau has announced the initial DEMF lineup 2012 (Movement). Detroit’s electronic music festival will again take place in Hart Plaza, Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan, the birthplace of techno. This is only the initial DEMF lineup 2012, just as the DEMF 2011 schedule was released. Take a look below for the initial DEMF lineup 2012 with headliners Public Enemy, Lil’ Louis, and Jeff Mills and also techno acts such as: Carl Craig, Claude VonStroke, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Lindstrom, Loco Dice, and Marco Carola. There is also, of course, the extensive DEMF 2012 after parties schedule which will be leaked out slowly throughout the next few months.

FREE DOWNLOAD – “Voices”, the first single from the album Awakening (due in April 2012): A pounding kick and effected rhythmic samples that constantly change throughout the course of the song. Vocal samples and layered organic drums build to a peaceful yet dark interpretation of electronic music.

Awakening will be first available via Bandcamp April 2012. Look for more tracks (and free downloads) on soundcloud and visit the electronic music producer‘s website for updates.

The album’s genres can be tough to pinpoint but Awakening definitely has a dark, electro-techno-industrial sound. The tracks wouldn’t be considered ‘dance floor anthems’ by any means, though most of the tracks have deep, pounding beats with undeniable techno roots. Awakening also pans into stretches of ambient, hip hop and electronica.

“The creation of the album truly was an awakening for me. Not necessarily with the production of the music, but with myself, life and who I am really. I experienced some major changes from the pre to post production of the album and I think those changes are reflected in the music.“
