twilight_frequencies has expanded our content and reach moving into 2010; offering a variety of music news, music reviews, music releases and keeping you up to date on  film and technology. We are expanding our media once more and will be offering a free bi-weekly podcast in the coming weeks.

The twilight_frequencies Podcast will feature an hour long mix of music arranged and mixed by a different independent artist and/or dj. The range of music to be featured will be as wide as our daily music content here on the blog: anything from techno and house, to indie and folk, to ambient and dubstep… (you get the idea,).

The music chosen will be from the inspiration of the artist. The twilight_frequencies Podcast will be available here on the blog, on itunes and on www.BlakeAndrewMusic.com.

We are currently in the selection and scheduling stages and if you’re interested in submitting a mix contact us.

image00111 Funny Cartoons To Lead You Through The NoiseGiven the recent intensity within our political discourse, I wanted to share this cartoon. I think its funny above all else, and I am on the side of Government for the people, to help the people, to create a solid base for all to propel themselves into society – not a handout but equal opportunity.

Yesterday I was running on a treadmill wearing an Obama T shirt, and another individual across the room was giving me the evil eye. He proceeded to turn the television to CMT and crank it way up. I smiled and continued to run, thinking about how far we’ve come, and how far some have went backwards- holding on to the remnants of inequality, and grasping for air to be saved from progression.

Thanks Pops!

Redshape, Red Pack

Next month Redshape will release a new 2×12″ entitled Red Pack, featuring six new tracks from the techno producer. The first release since his acclaimed 2009 debut album, The Dance Paradox. Red Pack will be available on double-vinyl and digital, via Redshape’s own Present imprint. You can also stream samples of all six tracks indefinitely. This is an extremely solid release from Redshape, a bit more dynamic and less “one tracked” than Dance.

‘Solvent Red’ boast a nice acid bass line with a truly classic feel. ‘Mucky Bones’ teeters on the side of electro-house and mirrors production from the likes of Vitalic’s recent work. ‘Grind’ goes soulful with a sprinkle of tribal; falling straight from the Detroit techno tree of knowledge.  ‘Brick Brack’ is the dancy-est tune while ‘Drama’ streams bare bones minimal.

Red pack Tracklist:
a. Soylent Red
b1. Mucky Bones
b2. Grind
a. The Lesson
b1. Brick Brack
b2. Drama

movement detroit festival 2010 Movement 2010 Lineup, Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF)

Movement Electronic Music Festival 2010

The initial Movement (aka DEMF) 2010 lineup has been announced and it looks impressive. As it should, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival will be celebrating a decade in existence this Memorial Day weekend, May 29th-31st, 2010. Headlining the festival will be classic Detroit pioneer’s such as Kevin Saunderson‘s Inner City, the return of Richie Hawtin‘s Pastikman (not seen in Detroit since 1994) and Juan AtkinsModel 500.

Rightfully so the festival is staying true to the rich techno heritage of Detroit with homegrown artists like Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, DJ Rolando and Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir.

2010 will also see plenty of international electronic stars as well: A-Trak, Chris Liebing, Claude VonStroke, DJ Sneak, Joel Mull, Martyn, Simian Mobile Disco, Kid Sister, Rex Sepulveda and more.

I’m glad to see the return of many more “live” acts; something we’ve seen in the past at the festival, but I think has been missing the last few years. The full list is below… and still more to come.
