Stunning video to a a beautiful track. Moderate (Modeselektor+Apparat) is one of the best things to happen in 2009. This marriage couldn’t be more compatible; the glitchy, IDM production and smooth vocals on Apparat’s recent works combined with Modeselektor’s driving dancefloor anthems, pushy beats and broken-beat techno has birthed a magical, compromising sound.
Tracks on the album phase back and forth slightly dipping from one pallet to the next. The artists’ merging new layers with each stroke, generating a cohesive work of art. The pendulum sways to the side of Apparat on “Rusty Nails”; a widely tolerable track with soothing vocals, drums, layered synths and even a signature Modeselektor lead. I deeply look forward to upcoming releases; together and separate.
